September 5, 2008

Hello! We're the new fourth grade class. This is our first time blogging. We just finished our first week of school. We are doing a lot of new stuff this year. For example, we got to try out some orchestra instruments and this year we have the chance to join orchestra. Another new activity is a new special called Espanol/Spanish. Today was our second day of Spanish and we already know the girl name for teacher, which is Maestra.

It was an awesome week of school and we learned a little bit. We had our first transition into math class with Ms. Killerlain. Our gym schedule also got changed. We are doing it every other day.

Hope you check out our next blog. Fourth Graders Rock!!!!

I remembered the sign in! We were busy today beginning our Pioneer Unit. Students are reading different Pioneer books to learn about life back then. Some students are reading some Laura Ingall's Wilder books while other students are reading some Pioneer picture books. We are filling in our Pioneer matrix everyday of what we learned about Pioneers.

We had music for our special and sang our hearts out! At the end of the day it was too wet to play our Pioneer game, so we ended the day by singing some of our Pioneer songs to Mrs. Hedstrom.

Most students had a math test in Mrs. Killerlain's room so there isn't any math homework. All students received a reading comprehension sheet that is due tomorrow.

Today we had art for our special. We finished our houses. Some of us were at the breakfast to thank crossing guards. It was yummy! We bartered in Social Studies. While bartering we learned that you have to be wise while bartering (you have to think before you trade), you have to be fast before someone gets what you want and you might have to trade a lot of something to get one thing that you want. In Language Arts some of us began making our Parts of Speech game using the Smartboard Notebook. It was a lot of fun! We can't wait to play the games in May. In math we had a test and our brains were fried after taking it! Then we got to listen to Mr. Zurnick talk about the South Pole. It was really interesting and fun to try on the clothes that he has to wear because it can be 50 degrees below zero when he's there in the summer. Brrr! Thanks for coming Mr. Zurnick. We hope everyone has a fun weekend. Good luck at the Art Fair!
