First off, sorry for the absense of posts. When I get off track, I really get off track.

It was wonderful seeing most of you at parent/teacher conferences. For the students that also came, you did a great job presenting your information to your parents. I hope everyone else was as satisfied as myself and that we paved the way for a successful finish to the school year.

Students should have completed their math homework from Tuesday (there wasn't any math today due to the National Test). Math time will be shortened tomorrow due to the NBC 15 Shout Out. Most students seem really excited to be on T.V.!

Most kids received a new reading log today along with a packet of explaining our Wisconsin Reading Challenge. The new reading log is a transition step into a more detailed reading log students will get after two weeks. This reading log only asks for the basics; no questions. Everyone should have an easy time filling this one out. Look for a new and improved reading log coming in the middle of March.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday night!

Only one day left for in class research paper time! Everyone is exhausted and relieved. If students have not completed the typing (and in some cases writing) of their research paper it will be completed either at home and/or during recess times. We are ready to move on to something new starting Monday.

Students now have to have their assignment notebooks signed by me before they leave for the day, checked by parents, and also signed off by parents after homework has been completed. We are doing this because too many students have not been doing their math homework for Miss Killerlain. Students also now have the buddy system for helping each other check on homework completion. They are working towards a secret reward. Each day there is 100% math homework completion a letter will be revealed until all letters are revealed for their reward. I know we can do this and homework completion will go up!

Speaking of homework, math homework today: both pink and yellow sheets parts C and E; and, of course, reading for 30 minutes and completing the reading log.

I hope everyone has a fantastic Thursday night!

It's hard to believe the research papers are in their last week. Everyone in the 4th grade, especially the teachers, are excited! Kids have been working hard on typing, revising, and editing this week. By Friday every child should be finished. This was a long and difficult writing task for most and they should be proud of what they have accomplished.

Students in Miss Killerlain's math class have homework and students will be receiving their new spelling words tomorrow. Everyone needs to read tonight and fill out their reading log.

Happy reading! Mrs. Hedstrom
