Summer Continues!

Greetings again future fourth graders! So far only Samantha has replied - thanks Samantha! I enjoyed reading her comment and then commenting back to her. I look forward to more of you commenting so I can get to know you and you can get to know me a bit before school resumes this fall.

Logan and I went strawberry picking this week at Carandale's in Oregon. It was a lot of fun! Logan did more eating of the berries than putting them into his container. Today I am going to make two types of strawberry pies with the fresh berries. I'll let you know how they turn out.

Currently I am reading a writing series by Lucy Calkins and learning is happening in almost every paragraph I read. It always amazes me how much I learn when I read. Does this ever happen to any of you? When I'm reading a text that has a lot of new information or information I want to remember I read with a focused mind, a pencil, and many, many post-its, and pad of paper. It may seem cumbersome, but this helps when I jot down ideas of my own or when I want to bookmark a section I find especially important. I'm looking forward to sharing all of the new information I am learning with all of you this fall. I'll also share the books I am reading so all of you can see what I'm thinking when I'm reading.

Until next week - Mrs. Hedstrom :)

I would know how you feel Mrs.Hedstrom but I don't read. I'd rather go outside. Maybe I can read outside. I have such good ideas even when I am not in school!

Hi my name is Kieran Mandli. I also went strawberry picking at Carandale's. We picked 25 pounds for strawberry jam and smoothies. We also have boys in our family-I have two brothers. These are the books I've read over the summer: Diary of a Wimpy Kid The
Last Straw, Marley and Me, Roscoe Riley Rules, Jake Drake Bully Buster and now I am reading Jim Thorpe And Me. I hope we can blog again soon.
